Eligibility and requirements
Eligibility Pillar 2 funding is available to all types of organizations, including: Researchers Universities Small- and medium-sized enterprises Non-profit organizations Research Institutions Use this to Participate in global consortia tackling major and interdisciplinary projects Expand your network internationally Receive funding for research and innovation projects relating to different areas including health, security, emerging technologies, energy, transport, agriculture, and more Test new ideas, scale innovations, and share your expertise
How it works
Under Pillar 2, Canadian entities can receive direct funding and join consortia for breakthrough research and innovation projects. Horizon Europe consortia must include at least one partner from an EU Member State and two additional partners from other EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries (e.g., Canada, the U.K., New Zealand). Applicants should review the Horizon Europe Work Program to find a suitable call and apply through the EU’s Funding & Tenders Portal. Horizon Europe grants are evaluated and administered by the European Commission. Canada’s Horizon Europe Secretariat and National Contact Point network offer technical and program support.
